Requested Action

Approve the Ordinance adopting the 2018 edition of the International Fire Code and its local amendments.

Recommendation

Adopt the Ordinance establishing the 2018 edition of the International Fire Code and its local amendments as the official fire code of the City of Mansfield, Texas.

Description/History

The Code Review Committees of the Regional Codes Coordinating Committee (NCTCOG) has reviewed the latest edition of the International Fire Code and has also produced a set of regional amendments. The International Code and regional amendments were recommended for adoption by cities to promote area-wide uniformity and consistency.

Justification

Adoption of the International Fire Code and its amendments will provide for an updated standard for construction minimums within the city to ensure safety, health, welfare and protection of the citizens of Mansfield.
