Description/History

On February 10, 2020, the City Council approved a construction contract to Phoenix I Restoration and Construction, Ltd. in the amount of $538,339.00 for the restoration of the Man House Residence and Barn.  A Notice to Proceed was issued on March 4, 2020, with mobilization by Phoenix I taking place shortly afterward

Justification

Over the course of the restoration, including selective demolition and removal of the existing roofing and other elements, it was determined that the foundation, chimneys and structure of the residence needed significant stabilization and reinforcement that had not been included in the original scope of the project.  In addition, other revisions and additions to the scope were deemed necessary to provide the future museum with better visitor circulation through the residence, free up storage space on the second floor and bringing in underground electrical service from Broad Street.  Once completed, the Man House Museum will be a focal point for the Mansfield Historical Museum and Heritage Center and our community
