The authorization of funding in an amount not to exceed $650,100.00 and approval of contracts, including design services with Graver, to prepare the US 287 Frontage Road Utility Relocations and 30-Inch Water Line project for public bidding and construction.
Description/History
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is currently designing a project to construct US 287 frontage roads from Heritage Parkway north to the Union Pacific Railroad and south to Lone Star Road. The TxDOT project is anticipated to be bid this fall and construction is anticipated to begin in January 2022. Several existing city water and sewer lines are located within TxDOT’s ROW within the limits of this project and are in conflict with the roadway improvements. These utility lines must be relocated to facilitate construction of the frontage roads.

This project will relocate the city water and sewer lines to an acceptable permanent location. The water lines at the north end of the project near the railroad may be allowed to remain in place which would result in a significant cost savings. In coordination with the beginning of the US 287 roadway project, the utility relocation project is anticipated to be completed in early 2022.

This project will also incorporate the design of a 30” water line along Lone Star Rd. from the west side of US 287 east to Southpointe Crossing, which is Project 14 in the Water Master Plan.
