Consider Proposed Revisions to the City of Mansfield Standard Construction Details (January 2024)
Description/History
Revised Standard Construction Details are being presented which represent changes that are being proposed to the city’s public infrastructure construction requirements. These changes consist of the addition of asphalt pavement cross-sections (Sheets P-1 through P-3). These street cross-sections are being added after much discussion with the City Council and the Subcommittee on Local Transportation Issues concerning the primary benefits of shorter pavement maintenance and rehabilitation timelines. Significant research was conducted to inform the makeup of the proposed pavement cross-sections. Additionally, a project sign to be utilized on Roadway Capital Improvement Projects is also being proposed as a standard to be included on all Roadway Capital Improvement Projects (P-12).
In accordance with the procedures set forth in the Subdivision Control Ordinance, the Department of Engineering Services is requesting approval of the revised standards as proposed from the Planning and Zoning Commission. If approved by the City Council, the documents will be filed with the Office of the City Secretary and anticipated to become effective February 5, 2024.
Recommendation
The Department of Engineering Services recommends approval of the revised City of Mansfield Standard Construction Details (January 2024).
