Title

Requested Action

Approval of additional fund and the change order to the contract with Tiseo Paving Company and authorizing additional funds.

 

 

Recommendation

The Engineering Staff recommends the approval of additional funds and the change order to the contract with Tiseo Paving Company and authorizing additional funds.

 

 

Description/History

The project was awarded on August 25, 2014 by Resolution 3031-14 to Tiseo Paving Company for $3,623,731.20. Total funding authorized was $3,804,917.76 which included a 5% contingency. 

 

During the design and construction phases of East Debbie Lane, several adjacent properties were concurrently being developed. Therefore, construction plans that were bid did not incorporate all changes needed to accommodate these developments and several contract quantities had to be increased during the construction of East Debbie Ln.

 

Item quantity increases include concrete pavement, driveway and curb work and their subsurface components.  Additional repair work was also added at the intersection of Debbie Ln and Matlock Rd.  Utility overages include 6 additional water line lowerings.   Additional paving was also needed at the Community of Hope Church driveway and parking lot to accommodate a shared driveway between the Ladera development and the church. 

 

The requested additional funds are for a construction contract change order in the amount of $10,250.15.


This proposed change order to
Tiseo Paving Company will result in a total of 5.28% above the bid amount.

 

 

Justification

Unforeseen conflicts caused the quantity increases in both Paving and Utilities.  The City Engineer will be in attendance at the meeting to answer Council’s questions regarding the proposed change order. 

 

 

Funding Source

The funding source will be from the Street and Utility Bond Fund.
