Requested Action
Consider approval of contract with Bannister Engineering, LLC for design services and Brittain & Crawford for surveying services for the Antler Drive Paving and Utility Improvement Project.
Recommendation
The Engineering Staff recommends approval of the contracts with Bannister Engineering, LLC for design services and Brittain & Crawford for surveying services for the Antler Drive Paving and Utility Improvement Project.
Description/History
As part of MEDC’s ongoing commitment to improve infrastructure within the City of Mansfield’s existing industrial parks, on August 4th the MEDC Board voted unanimously to approve funding in an amount not to exceed $550,000 for the reconstruction of Antler Drive. After seeking proposals from several design firms and with the assistance of the Public Works Department, the MEDC has selected Bannister Engineering as the design firm for this project and has selected Brittain and Crawford to provide surveying services.
The Bannister contract will be for services that include preliminary design, final design, bidding phase services, and preparation of record drawings. The Brittain and Crawford contract will be for related surveying services. The amount of the Bannister contract will not exceed $38,000 and the amount of the Brittain and Crawford contract will not exceed $14,000.
Justification
The Engineering Staff makes the recommendation for Bannister Engineering to perform the design of the Antler Drive Paving and Utility improvements for a fee not to exceed $38,000.00. The Engineering Staff also makes the recommendation for Brittain & Crawford to provide surveying services for the Antler Drive Paving and Utility improvements for a fee not to exceed $14,000.00. These fees are fair, reasonable and very comparable to those charged for said work in this immediate area.
The Director of Public Works will be in attendance at the meeting to answer Council’s questions regarding the proposed contracts. A resolution is attached for Council’s consideration.
Funding Source
The funding source will be from the 4A Funds & Utility Revenue Bonds.
