Recommendation
The Department of Planning and Development Services recommends approval and adoption of the Mansfield 2040 Plan.
Description/History
In December 2022, the City of Mansfield (the “City”) embarked on a robust media and communications campaign in order to educate and inform residents on the vision, importance, and benefits of a comprehensive plan in order to deliver a document that is inclusive and reflective of a shared vision for the future.
The City, through the City Council conducted several Joint Sessions and other meetings and proceedings open to the public with the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Mansfield Economic Development Corporation, and the Mansfield Park Facilities Development Corporation to give opportunity to provide and to receive input on the Mansfield 2040 Plan.
The City Council established the 2023 Citizen Planning Steering Committee, comprised of community residents to further inform, educate, and champion the importance and benefits of comprehensive planning and deliver an adaptive document that best reflects the unique and diverse perspectives that make Mansfield a highly desirable community in the North Texas Region and beyond.
These efforts have led to the completion of the Mansfield 2040 Plan, appropriately outlined as Our Plan, Our Guide, Our Future, while continuing to capture and reinforce the community’s shared values as encapsulated and espoused by True N.O.R.T.H.:

• Healthy economy.
The proposed Future Land Use Plan and Map is focused on land use plans and activities that will deliver the cultural, economic, and physical outcomes that we have come to expect. At the same time, the Mansfield 2040 Plan will ensure property owners and developers are aware of our vision and expectations for development and will work closely with all community members and partners to elevate our quality of life.
