Engineering Staff recommends awarding the construction of the US Highway 287/Mountain Creek Sanitary Sewer Interceptor to Mountain Cascade of Texas.
Description/History
The US Highway 287/Mountain Creek Sanitary Sewer Interceptor project was publicly bid for construction on 12/7/16 and the bids ranged from $2,999,060.00 to $3,730,253.00. Mountain Cascade was the low bidder. In accordance with the Developer's Agreement, Hanover Property Company will contract directly with Mountain Cascade and the Developer will submit reimbursement applications to the City on a monthly basis for the work that has been completed. All public funding has previously been authorized through the Developer's Agreement and any excess costs will be covered by the Developer.
Staff recommends awarding the construction of the US Highway 287/Mountain Creek Sanitary Sewer Interceptor to Mountain Cascade of Texas. Mountain Cascade of Texas is a local contractor who has satisfactorily completed work in Mansfield in the past and has the necessary staff and equipment to complete this project.
Justification
This project is a sewer interceptor in the Mountain Creek drainage basin and includes a new Trinity River Authority meter station to measure flows into a TRA system. It is identified in the City's Water and Wastewater Master Plan as necessary infrastructure to serve the Somerset Development and the Mountain Creek basin. The project is specifically included as an eligible project in the Developer’s Agreement with Hanover Property Company.
The Public Works Director will be in attendance at the meeting to answer Council’s questions regarding the project.
