Requested Action
Approve the Resolution awarding a contract for the construction of Paving, Water and Drainage Improvements to Stell Avenue and Waxahachie Street to McClendon Construction Company, Inc and authorizing funding for an Amount Not to Exceed $750,000.00.

The Engineering Staff recommends approval of the Resolution.
Description/History
The project is part of the Street Bond program with an estimated cost of $785,005.00.
The project was bid on September 9, 2014 and there were six bidders for the project. The low bidder was McClendon Construction Company, Inc. Bids ranged from a low bid of $662,801.50 to a high bid of $907,230.72
The contract time for this project is One Hundred Thirty (130) working days or approximately 8 months. The limits for this project for Stell Avenue are from Price Road to Waxahachie Street and Waxahachie Street from Stell Avenue to Sherman Drive. This project will include replacing the existing asphalt road with concrete curb and gutter on Stell Avenue and portions of Waxahachie Street as well as drainage improvements. Also included is the replacement of select concrete curb and gutter sections for future asphalt work on Plainview Drive to be completed by separate contract.
The requested funds are for a construction contract in the amount of $662,801.50, 5% contingency, material testing, survey, and other miscellaneous services needed to complete the construction of the project, to be accomplished within a budget of $750,000.00.
Staff is recommending award of this project and authorization of funding for an amount not to exceed $750,000.00.
Justification
McClendon Construction Company, Inc. has completed capital work in the City of Mansfield in the past. The Engineering Department feels that McClendon Construction Company, Inc. has the necessary staff and equipment to complete a job of this size and scope within the allowed contract time.
The Director of Public Works will be in attendance at the meeting to answer Council's questions regarding the proposed contract. A resolution is attached for Council's consideration.
Funding Source
The funding source will be from the Street Bond Fund and Utility Bond Fund.
