Requested Action
Approve the Resolution awarding a contract for the construction of Paving and Drainage Improvements to East Debbie Lane from Matlock Road to the City Limits to Tiseo Paving Company.
Recommendation
The Engineering Staff recommends approval of the Resolution awarding a contract for the construction of Paving.
Description/History
The project is part of the Street Bond program with an estimated cost of $4,367,023.35.
The project was bid on August 12, 2014 and there were six bidders for the project. The low bidder was Tiseo Paving Company. Bids ranged from a low bid of $3,623,731.20 to a high bid of $4,249,595.17
The contract time for this project is Two Hundred Fifty (250) working days or approximately 12 months. The limit of the project is from Matlock Road to the City limits. This project will replace the existing two lane asphalt road with a concrete curb and gutter 4-lane divided road as well as water and drainage improvements.
Staff is recommending award of this project and authorization of funding for the bid amount plus 5% for contingency for a total of $3,804,917.76.
Justification
Tiseo Paving Company has completed capital work in the City of Mansfield in the past. The Engineering Department feels that Tiseo Paving Company has the necessary staff and equipment to complete a job of this size and scope within the allowed contract time.
The Director of Public Works will be in attendance at the meeting to answer Council’s questions regarding the proposed contract. A resolution is attached for Council’s consideration.
