Description/History

The invitation to bid was advertised in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, posted on the City of Mansfield website, and bid packets were e-mailed to known suppliers and companies that requested them. On December 19th at 2:00 P.M., three bids were received.  Calgon Carbon Corporation submitted the winning bid of $889,905.00 for the installation of GAC and Silica Sand.

The requested funds are for a purchase contract in the amount of $889,905.00, a 5% contingency for additional materials and testing needed to complete the project within a budget not to exceed $934,400.00.

Justification

TCEQ requires that public water systems meet stringent water quality standards to protect public health. GAC will be utilized at the Bud Ervin Water Treatment Plant in the filtration process to meet or exceed all water quality standards.

GAC filter media is used to absorb organic chemicals and taste and odor-causing compounds during the treatment process.
