Description/History
May 11, 2015
The proposed amendments will:
- impose a Specific Use Permit requirement on “Industries Not Elsewhere Listed” that will require approval of the City Council through the zoning change process; and
- eliminate certain permitted uses in the I-1 and I-2 industrial zoning districts that are deemed particularly hazardous or a nuisance.
Staff has worked with the MEDC staff to ensure that the proposed amendments will not affect any existing business in Mansfield.

Council postponed this item to the May 26th meeting for further discussion. At this time, Allen Taylor and staff are still reviewing the potential strategies and amendments to meet Council's desire to regulate permitted uses in the industrial zoning districts.

The City Council directed staff to prepare amendments that are intended to:
1. Delete “MedicalWaste Product Facility” from the Permitted Uses and the special conditions on this type of land use;
2. Delete other less desirable land uses that are currently not in the city from the I-1, Light Industrial and the I-2 Heavy Industrial Zoning Districts;
3. Require a Specific Use Permit for “Industries Not Elsewhere Listed” and
4. Impose a new Industrial Use Permit requirement on the remaining land uses permitted only in the I-2 Zoning District to be approved by the City Council after notice to nearby property owners and public ...
