Requested Action
Resolution authorizing a one year renewable contract for the supply of sodium chloride (Salt).

Recommendation
City staff recommends approval of a resolution awarding bid to the lowest and best bidder, Brenntag Southwest Inc., for the supply of sodium chloride (Salt) for an amount not to exceed $185.00 / Dry Ton.

Description/History
The invitation to bid was advertised in the Fort Worth Star Telegram, posted on the City of Mansfield website, and bid packets were e-mailed to known suppliers and companies that requested them.

Justification
The TCEQ requires that public water systems provide adequate disinfection of all public drinking water in order to protect public health. Chlorine is used to meet this requirement. Truck loads of salt are used to generat sodium hypochlorite on-site.
