The Public Works staff recommends approval of the Resolution.
Description/History
West Broad Street from Retta Road to the west city limits is a 2-lane asphalt roadway with bar ditches. The subgrade of this roadway has failed and is beyond normal street maintenance. This roadway carries traffic between Burleson and Mansfield. With the character of the properties and traffic volumes along this roadway, the road rebuild should last 20 years with the appropriate maintenance.
Moore Road is a residential asphalt roadway with bar ditches that has experienced subgrade failures. The section from FM 157 to approximately 125 feet east of Spirit Walk is beyond normal street maintenance. The westbound side of the roadway has sunk in many areas. Due to the character of the neighborhood, staff does not anticipate Moore Road will ever be a candidate for a concrete curb and gutter roadway. It is anticipated the proposed rebuild (8" of treated subgrade and 6" of asphalt) will be sufficient to support the residential traffic over the next 20 years.
