Description/History
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Brownfields Program empowers states, cities and other stakeholders in economic development and environmental management to work together to assess, safely clean up, and sustainably reuse brownfields. The City of Mansfield may contain potential brownfield sites due to past commercial, industrial and agricultural land use practices around the downtown area. Assessment and eventual cleanup of these potential brownfield sites will enable the City of Mansfield to create specific redevelopment and revitalization strategies to achieve the conceptual vision established by the Historic Mansfield Vision and Action plan as well as the Land Use Plan.
