Description/History

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has designated the bridge on North Street at Walnut Creek structurally deficient.  TxDOT administers the Highway Bridge Program (HBP) Federal-aid Program to help fund deficiency corrections.  This program replaces deficient structures that are not in TxDOT’s off-system bridge program, which will increase safety and efficiency.  The Bridge on North Street at Walnut Creek qualifies for this program.

The Draft Advanced Funding Agreement (attached), contains the State required approximate reimbursements for its expenses related to Environmental ($34,095) and Engineering ($34,095) reviews, and for Construction inspection ($68,192).

Justification

North Street is a vital secondary link north of downtown.  The safety of the bridge and maintaining this critical link is important to both the traveling public as well as Emergency Services.  The City has funded the design of these improvements and agrees to cover any cost overruns.

Funding Source

Street Bond Fund
