Requested Action

To consider the subject ordinance amendment.

 

Recommendation

The Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing on October 19, 2015 and voted 6-0 to recommend approval.  Commissioner Polozola was absent.

 

Description/History

The City Council initiated the proposed amendment and directed the Planning and Zoning Commission to forward a recommendation. The proposed amendments will:

-   Prohibit outside storage or display in the C-1, Neighborhood Business District, which is designed to be adjacent or close to neighborhoods of single family homes.

-   Adopt new regulations to state: “Open storage or display in the C-3, I-l and I-2 Districts shall be placed on a gravel, asphalt or concrete surface or other surface approved by the Director of Planning and not on natural ground unless it is located more than thirty (30) feet from any street right-of-way or screened by an eight (8) foot opaque fence. Such surface shall be maintained in good condition and free of weeds or debris.”

The new regulations will apply to existing outside storage or display.
