Description/History

Mansfield is currently a contracting party of TRA’s Central Regional Wastewater System (CRWS). The CRWS facility is located in the vicinity of Interstate 30 and Loop 12.

Growth in the southern portions of Mansfield has made it necessary for Mansfield to send sewer flow from new development south to TRA’s Mountain Creek Regional Wastewater System (MCRWS).

Before Mansfield can send sewer flow to the MCRWS facility, it must become a member of the system. Doing so requires that Mansfield “buy in” to the system. After consideration of existing system capacity and Mansfield’s anticipated sewer flow, TRA has set the ‘”buy in” at $2,004,904.

The “buy in” has been approved by the Mountain Creek Regional Wastewater System’s Customer Advisory Committee and TRA’s Board of Directors.

Justification

The City plans to grow its waste-water collection system south of the US 287 corridor at the intersection of Hwy 360. The expansion of the collection system will provide needed utilities to the area, to support growth now and into the future. Staff has determined that it is beneficial to join the TRA Mountain Creek System as opposed to pumping the Mountain Creek Basins flows to the Central Regional System.
