Requested Action
Approve a resolution approving the contract with Kemper Sports to perform a facility assessment and transition support to the City in connection with the Big League Dreams Sports Park.
Recommendation
Staff recommends approval of the Resolution.
Description/History
On September 11, 2023, after Big League Dreams Mansfield, LLC defaulted, the City Council approved a resolution authorizing the early termination of the Maintenance and Operations Agreement with Big League Dreams Mansfield, LLC.
The Council has directed staff to determine what is the best use of the sports park facility moving forward and to ensure that there is continuity of operations through the end of the year since events were already scheduled prior to the termination.
Justification
Staff has received a proposal from Kemper Sports who has experience in providing facility assessments and transition support.
As a part of the assessment, Kemper Sports will meet with various stakeholder groups including Council, development stakeholders, City planning Staff, City Management, youth association groups and provide the City with a report detailing the highest and best use of the Sports Park facility for the future.
Additionally, Kemper Sports will provide the City with transition support to ensure that there are no disruptions in operations through the end of the year, since events were already scheduled prior to the termination.
Funding Source
Funding for this contract is available from the Hotel Occupancy Tax fund.
