The Engineering Staff recommends approval of the Resolution.
Description/History
The project was bid on October 22, 2015 and there were five bidders for the project. The low bidder was Stabile & Winn, Inc. Bids ranged from a low bid of $378,088.00 to a high bid of $660,235.75.
The contract time for this project is Sixty (60) calendar days or approximately 3 months. The limits for this project are Hamil Street from East Broad to East Dallas and Hillcrest Street from East Dallas to Stell Avenue.
This project includes replacing the existing pavement on both Hamil St. and Hillcrest St. with some minor drainage inlet replacement.
The requested funds are for a construction contract in the amount of $378,088.00, construction contingency, material testing, survey, and other miscellaneous services needed to complete the construction of the project, to be accomplished within a budget not to exceed $426,992.40.
Staff is recommending award of this project and authorization of funding for an amount not to exceed $426,992.40.
Justification
Stabile & Winn, Inc. has completed capital work in the City of Mansfield in the past. The Engineering Department feels that Stabile & Winn, Inc. has the necessary staff and equipment to complete a job of this size and scope within the allowed contract time.
The Director of Public Works will be in attendance at the meeting to answer Council’s questions regarding the proposed contract. A resolution is attached for Council’s consideration.
