Requested Action
To consider the proposed minor modification of the Specific Use Permit

Description/History
This drill site was originally approved in 2005.  In 2007, the City Council approved an amended Specific Use Permit (SUP) at the request of DTE Resources, the gas well operator at the time.  DTE added a note on the amended site plan that no compressor would be located on the site.  DTE and its successor, Range Resources, subsequently drilled 6 wells.  In 2011, the site was transferred to Legend Natural Gas, L.P., the current operator.
Legend is requesting a minor modification of the Specific Use Permit to allow a lift compressor at the Mansfield Partners North Site.  Use of a lift compressor is a normal practice on drill sites throughout the Barnett Shale to maintain production of the gas wells, particularly as they mature.  The oldest wells at this site were drilled in 2006.   Legend is proposing to use an electric motor lift compressor and will comply with the City's noise regulations.
