Description/History

Backyard Come As You Are, LP (the Developer) is constructing three new restaurants in the historic downtown area.  The restaurant property will abut the land for Pond Branch and the Developer is requesting MPFDC to landscape a pathway that will lead from the proposed Pond Branch linear trail to Main Street.  The MPFDC’s contribution for landscape and irrigation will not exceed $50,000.  The land for the pathway will be dedicated by the Developer and the City will be responsible for maintaining the landscaping and irrigation along the dedicated pathway. The Developer, through a Tennent Agreement, will be responsible for daily trash and debris removal along the pathway.  The Developer will be responsible for the cost of the design and construction of the pathway and the landscaping and irrigation.

Justification

This pathway will connect the proposed Pond Branch linear trail and Main Street. It will provide an additional trail head encouraging trail walkers to walk to restaurants and other businesses along Main Street.

Funding Source

MPFDC ½ cent sales tax
