..Description/History
Union Pacific has had ongoing discussions with the City of Mansfield to eliminate the railroad crossing on Seeton Road by closing the roadway for some time now.  This crossing in the recent past has had a traffic fatality.  The Federal government has been pursuing eliminating unnecessary crossings using TxDOT as its agency to work with the various cities and railroad companies.   Seeton Road has long been considered a good candidate for closure through this program but was delayed until the right-of-way was acquired to extend Seeton Road west to intersect with South Holland Road.  This right-of-way has now been acquired.  The realignment of Seeton Road to the west is consistent with the City's Master Thoroughfare Plan.
Justification
To assist the City in constructing Seeton Road (as a 2-lane county type roadway) west to intersect with South Holland Road the Union Pacific Railroad Company and TxDOT will enter into a funding agreement with the City.  Union Pacific will contribute $10,000 and TxDOT will contribute $170,000 towards the construction.  The estimated construction cost is $247,900.00.

The Director of Public Works will be in attendance to answer questions regarding this matter.
Funding Source
Majority of the funding to be Reimbursable by TxDOT and Union Pacific Railroad Company, the balance paid for by bond funds
