Title

Resolution - A Proposed Resolution Awarding a One Year Contract Extension for the Supply of Chlorine Dioxide Equipment, Services, and Supply, for an Amount not to Exceed $0.659 / Liquid Pound (Utility Fund FY-2017, FY-2018 Operating Budget 025-8105-84-01)

Requested Action

Resolution authorizing a one year contract extension with Evoqua Water Technologies for the purchase of liquid sodium chlorite and the lease of equipment with on-call service and maintenance.

Recommendation

City staff recommends extending the contract with Evoqua Water Technologies, for the amount of $.659 / liquid pound. The proposed award represents an increase of 0% from the previous price of $.659 / liquid pound. This includes all maintenance and upkeep of the associated instrumentation.

Description/History

We have utilized Chorine Dioxide since 2003 for Pre-Treatment.The price per liquid pound includes the supply of all the necessary equipment and required maintenance. If the City of Mansfield were to purchase sodium chlorite from another supplier, we would have to purchase new equipment and negotiate a new service contract.

Justification

Sodium Chlorite, when mixed in specific concentrations with chlorine, produces Chlorine Dioxide. This product reduces taste and odor complaints, assists in the removal of organic material, and increases the clarity of settled water. The end result is a more pleasant and safe supply of drinking water.
