Description/History
The Texas Department of State Health Services Office of Emergency Medical Services Trauma System Coordination has announced the availability of funding for local grant projects. This is an annual application process that Mansfield Fire Rescue has been successful over several years for funding towards ambulances and EMS equipment / supplies. The City of Mansfield recieved $35,000 in the years of 2004 and 2006 for the purchase of an ambulance. In 2007, the City of Mansfield recieved funding towards a cardiac monitor in the amount of $7,500. Most recently in 2008, Mansfield was awarded $12,796 towards rescue extrication equipment. The maximum allowable grant awarding per agency is $50,000. Mansfield Fire Rescue will be requesting grant funds of $35,000 (maximum reimbursement) for the purchase of an ambulance. The remaining eligible request of $15,000 will be applied towards EMS related equipment for the ambulances.

This project application must be submitted by May 17, 2012 with a contract period for purchase of October 2012 to August 2013 if the grant funding application is approved.
Justification
The grant application will allow the City of Mansfield to acquire funds to reimburse costs towards the purchase of an ambulance and EMS equipment / supplies for Mansfield Fire Rescue.
