Approve the establishment of the Mansfield Arts Commission
Description/History
A request was made by the citizens to establish an arts council. The City Council directed staff at the December 14 meeting to meet with the Hotel/Motel Tax Fund sub-committee to discuss the possibility of establishing an arts council. The sub-committee met on January 11th and agreed to move forward with establishing a seven-member board to be appointed by the City Council and name it the Mansfield Arts Commission. The sub-committee met on January 21st to determine seven members to propose to the City Council for appointment.
Justification
The Commission will consist of seven (7) Council-appointed members and will serve as an advisory board to the City Council and City staff regarding tourism and arts for the community.
