Recommendation
The Historic Landmark Commission held a public hearing on January 31, 2017, and voted 8-0 to recommend approval.
The Planning & Zoning Commission held a public hearing on February 6, 2017, and voted 6-0 to recommend approxal. Commissioner Hudson was absent.
Description/History
This project is a good example of a low-intensity adaptive reuse of a structure currently used as a single-family residence. The applicant is requesting the uses and development standards listed in Exhibit B attached to the ordinance. In addition, the property will be designated as a historic landmark.
The house was constructed after 1921 and is adjacent to other historic homes on W. Oak Street. The PD will establish specific conditions designed to preserve the historic character of the house and surrounding neighborhood, and to ensure that future changes to the house or property are done in a manner consistent with the City’s historic preservation guidelines.
