Recommendation
Approve Resolution
Description/History
In 2016, the City sold Certificates of Obligation in the street bond sale allocating funding necessary for landscaping and irrigating six medians located on East Debbie Lane between Matlock Road and the eastern city limits, just west of Tabasco Trail. The proposed improvements will complement the median landscaping on the existing, adjacent section of Debbie Lane.
This project completed design and construction document production in late January and was advertised for bid in February. The bid opening was held on February 15, 2017, with five firms submitting bids. Green Mound is the recommended low bidder. The contract includes the base bid in the amount of $215,170, plus one alternate for construction of a city entry sign in the amount of $16,675. The bid tab is attached.
Justification
The contractor with the lowest qualified bid, Green Mound, has completed similar landscaping and irrigation projects for the Town of Little Elm and the City of Fate. The contractor provided project references, supplier references, and letters of recommendation. The bid includes acceptance of the base bid and city entry sign alternate for a bid total of $231,845. As ongoing beautification efforts continue within the City, this project will complete the northeastern entry into the City of Mansfield on East Debbie Lane.
