Description/History
The project was bid on October 1, 2015 and there were ten bidders for the project. The low bidder was Jackson Construction, LTD. Bids ranged from a low bid of $744,240.00 to a high bid of $1,147,449.01.
The contract time for this project is One Hundred (100) calendar days or approximately 5 months. The limits for this project are Main Street from Nelson Wyatt Road to Fire Station No.4 and Gertie Barret Road from Nelson Wyatt Road to Country Meadows Court.
This project includes installing a 16in Water Line on Main Street and installing a 12in water line on Gertie Barret. This will improve our water and service pressures for the Northwest quadrant of town and is part of our Water Master Plan.
The requested funds are for a construction contract in the amount of $874,952.00, construction contingency, material testing, survey, and other miscellaneous services needed to complete the construction of the project, to be accomplished within a budget not to exceed $874,952.00.
Staff is recommending award of this project and authorization of funding for an amount not to exceed $874,952.00.
Justification
Jackson Construction LTD. has completed development and capital work in the City of Mansfield in the past. The Engineering Department feels that Jackson Construction LTD. has the necessary staff and equipment to complete a job of this size and scope within the allowed contract time.
