Description/History

In Texas, a vehicle is stolen every 5 minutes and a vehicle is burglarized every 2 ½ minutes, unfortunately, the City of Mansfield is not excluded from these statistics.  The Mansfield Police Department has applied and received funding from this grant program for the last 5 years.  Most recently in FY16-17, the grant award received was $394,341 to continue to operate a multi-agency task force that targets automobile thefts and burglaries.  The Mansfield Police Department will continue to be the managing agency with participation from the Cities of Burleson and Kennedale, from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, and the Tarrant County Constable Precinct 7.

The grant will fund personnel expenses, supplies and operating expenses, and travel for FY17-18.  This grant if awarded will not exceed $622,000 and  require a 20% cash match which will be shared with each participating law enforcement agency receiving grant funds.
