Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Re-Appointments to the Mansfield Animal Control Facility Advisory Committee
Requested Action
Appoint a new Advisory Committee to the Mansfield Animal Control Facility in accordance with the Texas Health and Safety Code, Chapter 823.
Recommendation
Appoint a four member Advisory Committee.

Current members of the Advisory Committee are as follows:

1. City Councilman Stephen Lindsey (Municipal Official) Requests to be re-appointed.

2. Dr. Amanda Ryals, DVM (Licensed Veterinarian Position) Requests to be re-appointed.

3. Nelda Corbell, Humane Society of North Texas (Representative of an Animal Welfare Organization) Does not wish to be re-appointed.

4. Lori Strittmatter (Mansfield Animal Care and Control Manager) Requests to be re-appointed.

Recommend the following individuals be appointed/re-appointed to the Animal Control Facility Advisory Committee for a three year term:

1. City Councilman Stephen Lindsey (Municipal Official)

2. Dr. Amanda Ryals, DVM (Licensed Veterinarian Position)

3. M.Michelle Meeks, Humane Society of North Texas-Fort Worth (Representative of an Animal Welfare Organization)

4. Lori Strittmatter (Mansfield Animal Care and Control Manager)

Description/History
Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 823 (Animal Shelters) requires the following:
Sec. 823.005. ADVISORY COMMITTEE. (a) The governing body of a county or municipality in which an animal shelter is located shall appoint an advisory committee to assist in complying with the requirements of this chapter.
(b) The advisory committee must be composed of at least one licensed veterinarian, one county or municipal official, one person whose duties include the daily operation of an animal shelter, and one representative from an animal welfare organization.
(c) The advisory committee shall meet at least three times a year.
Justification
Required by Texas Health and Safety Code, Chapter 823.
