Title
Resolution - A Resolution Approving a "Short-Term Raw Water Sales Agreement" with Lane/Abrams Joint Venture
Requested Action
Staff recommends approval of a City Council Resolution authorizing the City Manager or his designee to execute a contractual agreement to sell raw water to Lane/Abrams Joint Venture for a period of three years.
Description/History
Lane/Abrams has expressed an interest in tapping the existing 8-inch raw water line that supplies irrigation water to the Sports Complex and Mansfield National Golf Course. Lane/Abrams has requested to take 100 to 200 thousand gallons of water per day at the rate of $1.96/1000, and a "pass through" of any increase in the cost of raw water.
The water will be used for a lime stabilization plant on the Hwy 360 project, located at the connection of our 8” raw water line.
Justification
By using raw water, there will be no impact on the drinking water system. This is of greater benefit to the City than selling treated water for the same purpose. The only cost involved for the City of Mansfield is the cost of raw water (currently $1.30/1,000 gallons).
Recommendation
Staff recommends approval of the attached Resolution, which authorizes the City Manager or his designee to execute a "Short-Term Raw Water Sales Agreement."
