Requested Action

The authorization of funds for an amount not to exceed $180,000.00 and approval of contracts including Freese and Nichols, Inc. for design services and Brittain and Crawford for surveying services.

 

Recommendation

The Engineering Staff recommends the authorization of funding and approval of contracts including and Nichols, Inc. for design services and Brittain & Crawford for surveying services for the Aerial Sanitary Sewer Repairs (4 locations).

 

Description/History

The primary purpose of this project is to repair four existing sanitary sewer lines, install piers and improve embankments to prevent any further erosion damage.  These four lines are located near Danbury Dr., Carlin Dr., Holley Creek Lane and North Main Street in Walnut Creek and Hogpen Branch.  These aerial sewer crossings range from 6 to 36 inch sanitary sewer lines. The requested funds are for design, survey and other miscellaneous services to prepare this project for construction, to be accomplished within a budget of $180,000.

 

Justification

This project is to repair existing sanitary sewer lines and prevent any further erosion damages.  Staff was directed by City Council to proceed with design and construction of this project.

 

The Public Works Director will be in attendance at the meeting to answer Council’s questions regarding the proposed funding and contracts.
