Requested Action
The approval of a contract award for construction of the Hogpen Branch Linear Detention Facility - Pond B Drainage Improvements to 2L Construction, LLC.
Recommendation
The Engineering Staff recommends the approval of the contract award in the amount of Three Hundred Forty Thousand Two Hundred Seventy and 50/100 Dollars ($340,270.50) to 2L Construction, LLC, Inc. for the construction of the Hogpen Branch Linear Detention Facility - Pond B Drainage Improvements.
Description/History
The project is part of the Drainage Bond program with an estimated cost of $377,910.00.
The project was bid on March 22, 2012 and there were seven bidders for the project. The low bidder was 2L Construction, LLC. Bids ranged from a low bid of $340,270.50 to a high bid of $457,608.00
The contract time for this project is Seventy Five (75) working days or approximately 4 months. Bid tabulation is attached for Council’s review.
Staff is recommending award of this project and authorization of funding for the bid amount plus 5% for contingency for a total of $357,284.03.
Justification
2L Construction, LLC. has not completed capital work in the City of Mansfield. Past development projects for the MISD have been completed and they have received good reviews. Upon research of references provided by 2L Construction, LLC, the Engineering Department feels that 2L Construction, LLC has the necessary staff and equipment to complete a job of this size and scope within the allowed contract time.
The Director of Public Works will be in attendance at the meeting to answer Council’s questions regarding the proposed contract. A resolution is attached for Council’s consideration.
Funding Source
The funding source will be from the Drainage Bond Fund.
