Description/History
The City of Mansfield has several major roadway systems running through the community. These include US 287, SH 360, FM 1187, and FM 917. Speed continues to be a contributing factor in injury and fatality crashes on these roadways. Funding provided by this grant will allow for additional enforcement capabilities and aid in making the roadways of our community safer.
Justification
The City of Mansfield is eligible for a maximum amount of $110,000 (population 50,001-125,00) with a 20% or $22,000 in-kind match during this 1-year grant opportunity, beginning October 1, 2013 and ending September 30, 2014. The priority focus of the this grant program area is Speed Control. This core program area provides the greatest potential to reduce the number of motor vehicle crashes, injuries, and fatalities.
