Description/History
The Parks and Recreation, Planning and Engineering Departments have worked together in an ongoing effort to add trees and landscaping to the developed corridors throughout the city. The proposed improvements for this project will mirror the landscaping on existing medians throughout the city with 123 trees planted and landscaping beds with stone borders along Turner Warnell Road between Cooper Street and Callender Road.
This project completed design and construction document production in late July and was advertised for bid in August. The bid opening was held on September 9, 2021, with three firms submitting bids. Cole Construction, Inc. is the recommended low bidder. The contract includes the base bid in the amount of $206,758, alternates #1,2,4 and 6 totaling $38,212.26 and a 10% contingency in the amount of $24,497. The bid tab is attached.
Justification
The contractor with the lowest qualified bid, Cole Construction, Inc. has completed similar landscaping and irrigation projects for the numerous cities, including the City of Mansfield. The contractor provided project references and supplier references. As ongoing beautification efforts continue within the city, this project will complete the landscaping on the expanded section of Turner Warnell Road.
