Approve the Resolution awarding a contract for the Construction of Mouser Way Phase1 Water, Storm Drainage and Pavement Improvements to Stabile & Winn, Inc., and authorizing funding for an amount not to exceed $470,918.43.
Recommendation
The Engineering Staff recommends approval of the Resolution.
Description/History
The MEDC approved contribution for this project is $400,000.00.
The project was bid on April 5, 2016 and there were eight bidders for the project. The lowest qualified bidder was Stabile & Winn, Inc. Bids ranged from a low bid of $410,398.50 to a high bid of $707,214.00.
The contract time for this project is one hundred (100) working days or approximately 4 months. The limits for this project are from the end of the existing concrete pavement of Mouser Way near House Rd to approximately 350ft east.
This project includes constructing pavement, drainage and water line.
The requested funds are for a construction contract in the amount of $410,398.50, construction contingency, material testing, survey, and other miscellaneous services needed to complete the construction of the project, to be accomplished within a budget not to exceed $470,918.43.
Staff is recommending award of this project and authorization of funding for an amount not to exceed $470,918.43.
Justification
Stabile & Winn, Inc. has completed capital work in the City of Mansfield in the past. The Engineering Department feels that Stabile & Winn, Inc. has the necessary staff and equipment to complete a job of this size and scope within the allowed contract time.
