Title
Resolution - A Proposed Resolution Awarding a one year Renewable Contract to the Lowest and best bid for the Supply of Liquid Ammonium Sulfate (LAS), for an Amount not to Exceed $217.00 / Wet Ton (Utility Fund FY-2013, FY-2014 Operating Fund 25-8105-8401)

Requested Action
Resolution authorizing a one year renewable contract for the purchase of Liquid Ammonium Sulfate (LAS).

Recommendation
City staff recommends awarding the bid to the lowest and best bidder, Chameleon Industries, for the amount of $217.00 / wet ton.

Description/History
The invitation to bid was advertised in the Fort Worth Star Telegram, posted on the City of Mansfield website, and bid packets were e-mailed to known suppliers and companies that requested them.

Justification
The TCEQ requires public water systems to provide a chloramine residual in the distribution system. When used in combination with chlorine, Liquid Ammonium Sulfate (LAS) produces the required chloramine residual.

Funding Source
Utility Fund FY-2013, FY-2014 Operating Budget 25-8105-8401.
