Description/History
Each year, staff compiles a list of recommended improvements for the existing parks in the City’s park and recreation system. In September 2015, the MPFDC approved $265,000 for existing park improvements in the FY 2015-2016 budget. The proposed list for park improvements included spectator shade structures for the football fields at Clayton Chandler Park. The 10 shade structures will cover the bleachers on both football fields. This is the only request that the Mansfield Pee Wee Football Association submitted for facility improvements in the FY2016 budget cycle.
Justification
This project represents a continuing effort by the Parks and Recreation Department to provide shade for park patrons and protect park amenities. The Chandler Park football fields have 10 bleacher pads with bleachers that have not been shaded since the facility was built in 2004. The shade structures will help reduce temperatures on the seating surfaces allowing patrons to enjoy their park experience more comfortably. The purchase includes labor, materials, permitting, manufactured drawings, construction, site specific footings, supervision and clean-up.
