Approve the Resolution awarding a contract for the Construction of Heritage Parkway left turn lane and Price Road/Sentry Drive realignment to XIT Paving and Construction, Inc. for an Amount Not to Exceed $600,000.00.
Recommendation
The Public Works Department recommends approval of the Resolution.
Description/History
This project will realign the existing angled intersection of Price Road/Main Street. The realignment will curve Price Road to the west and create an alignment with Sentry Drive at Main Street. The realignment will create a 90 degree intersection at Main Street which will improve driver visibility and safety. The improvements include drainage and constructing this section of Price Road in concrete. In addition, as part of the pending developer agreement with NT Windows this project also includes adding an eastbound left turn lane at an existing median opening on Heritage Parkway to serve the future NT Windows development.
The project was bid on April 25, 2017 and there were six bidders for the project. The lowest qualified bidder was XIT Paving and Construction, Inc. Bids ranged from a low bid of $533,121.00 to a high bid of $687,180.50. The contract time for this project is ninety (90) working days or approximately 4 months.
The requested funds are for a construction contract in the amount of $533,121.00, a 5% construction contingency, material testing, survey, and other miscellaneous services needed to complete the construction of the project, to be accomplished within a budget not to exceed $600,000.00. The funding for the left turn lane ($65,000.00) will come from MEDC and the remainder will be through the Street Bond Fund.
