Requested Action
Resolution awarding a one year renewable contract for the supply of Liquid Aluminum Sulfate (ALUM).
 
Recommendation
City staff recommends awarding the contract to the lowest and best bidder, General Chemical, Inc., for the amount of $183.50 / dry ton.
 
Description/History
The invitation to bid was advertised in the Fort Worth Star Telegram, posted on the City of Mansfield website, and bid packets were e-mailed to know suppliers and companies that requested them.
 
Justification
Aluminum Sulfate is the primary coagulant used at the water treatment plant. Coagulants are used to clarify water and remove organic material that may contain viruses and bacteria.

Utility Fund FY-2012, FY-2013 Operating Budget 25-8105-8401.
