Description/History
The project includes the design and construction of a new administration building that will house the Parks and Recreation administrative staff at the property owned by the Mansfield Park Facilities Development Corporation (MPFDC) on Matlock Road. Extensive planning and facilitation of staff’s present and future needs are accommodated into the new facility. Currently, administrative staff office in the old converted volunteer fire station on Smith Street which is located on the four acres slated for redevelopment in historic downtown.
The proposed single story building will be designed to provide office space for 20 staff members, and include a community meeting room, two conference rooms, restrooms, break area, work room, storage space, and a parking lot. The building is proposed to be wood construction with a masonry exterior and metal roof. The site civil work, parking lot ingress and egress, and infrastructure are included in a civil engineering contract already in place.
The proposed consultant agreement includes design development, construction documents, and construction administration services. The agreement has been negotiated with TRC Architects of Arlington, Texas in the amount of $97,700. The design is expected to be completed this summer, with construction of the new building beginning this fall. Funding for this phase of the project is included in the MPFDC FY2016-2017 budget and the architectural agreement was approved with a vote of 6-0 at the May 18, 2017 MPFDC regular board meeting.
