Betty Lynne, Partner of Lynn Ross Smith & Gannaway, LLP, gave a presentation on Civil Service.
John Watson, President for the Mansfield Fire Fighters' Association, Steve Baker, Vice President answered Council questions.
No action was taken by the Council on this agenda item.
On February 13, 2012 a petition For/Against the Adoption of the Fire Fighters' and Police Officers' Civil Servies Law for the Mansfield Fire Department was presented to the City Secretary's Office.
The results are as follows:
The petition contained a total of 349 signatures. 278 of the signatures on the petition were verified as valid signatures. 71 of the signatures obtained could not be verified.
There were a total of 1,482 ballots cast in the May, 2011 General Election; therefore, 148 signatures were needed to validate the petition.
In summary, I have reviewed the petition that has been submitted and have determined it is in compliance and I have officially certified its compliance.
