Requested Action
Consider the Resolution of the City Council of the City of Mansfield, Texas, approving a contract between the City of Mansfield, TX and Raba Kistner, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $184,922.10 for the construction materials observation and testing services of the Mansfield Staybolt development. (Street Bond Fund)

Recommendation
The Engineering Staff recommends approval of the Resolution.

Description/History
The Staybolt project includes improving Lone Star Road between Hwy 360 and Heritage Parkway and internal roads including water, sewer and storm drain systems. The requested services include soil laboratory testing, concrete compressive strength specimen testing, and asphalt testing for the project.

The requested funds are for a construction materials observation and testing services contract in the amount of $168,111.00 and a 10% contingency needed to complete the construction of the project within a budget not to exceed $184,922.10.

Justification
Raba Kistner, Inc. has completed similar work in the City of Mansfield in the past. The Engineering Department feels that Raba Kistner, Inc. has the necessary staff and equipment to complete a job of this size and scope.

The Director of Engineering Services will be in attendance at the meeting to answer Council’s questions regarding the proposed contract and funding. A resolution is attached for Council’s consideration.

Funding Source
The funding source will be from the Street Bond Fund.
