Description/History
Each year staff compiles a list of recommended improvements for the existing parks in the City’s park system.
January - The MPFDC approved $250,000 for Existing Park Improvements in the FY 2011-2012 budget. Attached is the proposed priority list for park improvements which includes installing bridges at Hardy Allmon, adding namesake signage at each of the existing parks, and completing the stone entry signs at the three newest parks. It would also include adding a shade structure over the Rose Park playground swings, replacing bleachers and soccer goals, installing security lighting at Woodland Estates Park, and renovations of existing sports fields and fencing.
February - Installation of the security lighting at Woodland Estates Park is complete. Renovations to baseball field #2 at the Sports Complex should be complete by the end of February. This renovation includes laser grading, new irrigation and sod, and a new pitchers mound.
March - Renovations to baseball field #2 at the Sports Complex are complete. Also information is being gathered to begin the design for the park namesake signage project. Staff is receiving quotes for the new shade structure to be installed over the swings at the Rose Park playground.
April -Staff is beginning to collect quotes for fencing replacements at Chandler Park.
May - Staff has selected a contractor to replace the temporary fencing at Chandler Park with permanent fencing. The contract will begin work this summer during the break between the baseball and football seasons. Staff is also looking to move forward with Chandler Park football field renovations during the summer off season.
June - Staff is currently communicating with the contractor and installation should begin soon on the fence surrounding the two football fields at Chandler Park. Baseball fie...
