Description/History

The City has continued to grow and as a result it has become apparent that we will need a bigger facility to house City employees and administrative governmental functions and therefore anticipate needing to vacate the building located at 1200 E. Broad St., Mansfield, Texas 76063 sometime in the near future.  The Mansfield Independent School District (MISD) currently has its administrative staff housing out of various buildings located at 605 E. Broad St. and also own the property located at 703 E. Broad St. which has current leases operating out of it.

Justification

The City recognizes the importance of providing adequate space in the future for City staff to provide continued services to its citizens and also desires to provide public spaces for the community to gather to increase quality of life for residents, visitors and business owners.

The City and MISD have both concluded that an exchange of the property identified above would provide mutual benefits to each entity and the community. As a part of the exchange, the entities would be providing one another a lease back for up to 3 years.

Section 272.001(j) of the Texas Local Government Code authorizes the exchange between the City and MISD.
