Description/History
This project is a continuation of public improvements to support the development of the Klein Tools facility on Easy Drive west of South Second Ave. It provides for a new sanitary sewer from the southwest corner of the Easy Dr./S. 2nd intersection east to the recently installed 8" public sanitary sewer constructed by Ardex in 2009. This will provide better sewer capacity for all developments along Easy Dr. It was not constructed with the previous improvements due to a delay of easement acquisition. The property on the east side of S. 2nd Ave. has now been acquired by MEDC and appropriate easements have been provided.
The project was bid on February 18, 2016 and there were eleven bidders for the project. The lowest complete bid was from Wilson Contractor Services, LLC. Bids ranged from a low bid of $133,258.50 to a high bid of $162,901.00. The contract time for this project is thirty (30) working days or approximately 1.5 months.
The requested funds are for a construction contract in the amount of $133,258.50, a 5% contingency, materials testing, and other miscellaneous services needed to complete the construction of the project, to be accomplished within a budget of $155,000.00.
Staff is recommending award of this contract and authorization of funding for an amount not to exceed $155,000.00.
