Recommendation

Approval of a professional services contract between the City of Mansfield, TX and GMcivil in an amount not to exceed $204,812.50 for design of the Rockwood Additional Regional Lift Station.

Description/History

A lift station in the area west of Cancun Dr. is necessary to provide sewer service to the areas just east of the railroad that drain to the west.  The railroad prevents a gravity solution from being a feasible solution for this land area.  This lift station will serve the western portions of Triple Diamond Ranch (eliminating the existing lift station), Rockwood Addition, and Mansfield Country Estates (eliminating the existing lift station).  Along with an anticipated $500,000 contribution from MEDC for construction, it is also planned to serve the Alpine Industrial Park.

The estimated cost of construction is $2,069,100.

The requested funds are for design services with GMcivil in the amount of $179,812.50, which includes an additional 5% design fee contingency for potential design scope changes, and $25,000 for land acquisition, for a total budget not to exceed $$204,812.50.

Justification

This project is needed to accommodate development of this area.

The Director of Engineering Services will be in attendance at the meeting to answer Council’s questions regarding the proposed funding and contracts.
