The Engineering Staff recommends approval of the Resolution.
Description/History
This project was previously bid on October 22, 2015. The project included milling the existing asphalt surface and replacing it with 2 inches of asphalt. Prior to Council approval of the bids, Council recommended that West Debbie Lane be converted to a truck route. The proposed asphalt roadway section would not support the increased truck loads thus the project was redesigned in concrete to support the anticipated loads and volumes.
The project limits are from US Business Hwy 287 (Main Street) to FM 157 and will include removing the asphalt paving and replacing it with 12 inches of lime treated subgrade and 10 inches of concrete, adding a raised median with landscaping, adding a 8’ wide side path on the north side, 5’ sidewalk on the south side and striping the roadway to accommodate 6 lanes of traffic. In addition, a westbound right turn lane will be added at the intersection of Debbie Lane/FM 157.
The project was bid on January 31, 2017 and there were eight bidders for the project. The lowest qualified bidder was Tiseo Paving Company. Bids ranged from a low bid of $4,728,469.65 to a high bid of $6,215,189.28. The contract time for this project is Two Hundred Sixty (260) working days or approximately 1 year.
