Description/History

This general agreement addresses the State’s and City’s responsibilities for the construction, maintenance and operation of   safety lighting along the State Highway System (i.e. SH 360 and US 287).  Safety lighting is the street lighting that is provided at intersections and/or ramps along highways to enhance visibility at night.  The State is responsible for this type of lighting.  The City has no responsibility for this lighting.

The attached agreement details the responsibilities of the State and City with regards to the construction, maintenance and operation of safety lighting along State highways within the City of Mansfield.

Justification

This agreement is with the Dallas District of TxDOT and will address the areas of SH 360 and US 287 that lie in Ellis County.  An agreement with TxDOT - Fort Worth District is already in place for areas in Tarrant and Johnson County. The Texas Department of Transportation - Dallas District has requested that the City execute this agreement due to the improvements on SH 360.
